if you tie only.... make one knot on top and flip your tutu over and do another tie on the bottom then you have poofiness up and down. So then theres a knot on top of the elastic and bottom

I am not sure what I did that you didn't do, I made my daughters tutu for her halloween costume. Totally not something I want to do for money, but it is really puffy. Hers goes to the floor she wanted it also flowy and princessy.

Thank you so much for the details in this message! If I did my math correctly... you typically use about 150 strips (I am assuming you cut your strips 12" to get a 6" length?) So a typical yard of bolt tulle (54") would equal about 27 strips of tulle that are 6" wide by 12" long... I would need to use about 5.5 yards of bolt tulle to equal your rolls of tulle. I am in the right ballpark for the yardage, however I was more worried about layers and less worried about actual yardage on the waistband. I see my mistake!!!
Beautiful tutus everyone! Thank you so much for sharing pictures with me! |

i think if you're sewing long layers, make your layers longer so it gathers more. i think that would make it more full and not lay so flat on the next layer. i make the tied ones also, but i've done the gathering thing with skirts for my daughter. anyway, hope this helps!
