I just recently bought a Brother CE-5000 at Walmart. I think it was about $150. I just compared the machines at Walmart and picked from their features....of course I don't have a joanns near by and I was ready to buy that night. So far, I have had great experience with it. I am self taught and had to refresh but directions are simple and it's easy to thread.

I had never touched a sewing machine and one day decided I wanted to learn. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a Brother. It is super easy to use. I am self taught so I still need practice but they are good inexpensive machines to learn on.
