You can use cotton/calico fabrics. Like the ones I bought last time at Joann's.

I think that'll be cute!

Thanks for the linc.. I bookmarked it! I've been thinking about making one for the baseball games we go to, but honestly didn't want to shell out the money for the pattern! Not that I'm cheap, but with 4 children, one under 1, that money that can go to ribbon or diapers! LOL Besides, that last 2 patterns I bought, are still midway in productuion!

Someone else had posted it months ago and I've just had it bookmarked since I didn't have a sewing machine but now since I have one I'm trying out a few new things!

Any kind of cotton quilting type fabric will work. If you want it to be more heavy duty you could use a canvas or denim. You'll need a heavy duty needle if you try that. You could also use a brocade if you wanted something fancier, but that's a harder fabric to work with.

I would use either designer quilting fabrics( like Amy Butler, Michael Miller etc) with some interfacing to add body to it.

OR use some decorator weight fabric- It feels almost canvas-y. It is heavier and will give the bag more body without the interfacing.

Check out jcarolinecreative.com for ideas on what type of fabrics/interfacing to use. They have a great how-to section plus they sell the fabrics and hardware etc..

Also check out Craftersvision.com. They don't have the how-to's but they have great prices on decorator fabric and hardware.

Good Luck. Would love to see the completed project

Cute tote. I've found w/bags if you aren't using a thicker material (canvas or what not) and you want the bag to stand you need to use a thicker interfacing. I've used some fleece interfacing and it gives bags a nice shape without making them stiff.
