Setting up a site

Hi girls,
I'm very new to this sort of stuff and currently have an ebay store but I want something of my own and don't want it to cost a lot of money. I've been recommended a place where you can set up a basic style shop for only $4.95 per month. No listing fees! YAY! But, I just wondered how you go about promoting your site on other sites.

I made some reciprocal link agreements with other sites, but so far that's all I've done. Michelle says it's important to do a site map and register it with Google, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do that.

You could try promoting on some of the bigger forums in Aus like essential baby or bub hub they might have free business listings, some of the WAHM Australia top 100 site the advertising is $30 annually for a basic package.

You could do a local community market, make up some flyers and take them to your local schools and kinders. Offer them a bow or pack for a raffle prize in exchange. Talk to your local hairdressers, show them your stuff consider wholesaling to them. Try an eamil newsletter to family and friends about what your up to with your shop they may refer someone to you.

See if your web design people can do search engine optimisation (SEO) for you, might have to pay more for it.

I would start locl by getting business cards and leaving them in places you go, create a banner siggy for any forums that u are a part of, and make sure you have metatags so that when people do an online search you will come up!

Good luck and stick with it in the end it will be more affordable than etsy or ebay!
