Help With Targeting a Marketing Audience

Ok,
So, I had flyers made up...well oversized postcards...but they look great and tomorrow I am dropping my daughter off with my grandmother for a couple hours and then my mother and I are dropping off the flyers to get some more exposure.

Our original idea was to stuff the mailboxes in the more high priced residential neighborhoods (we both live in Everett, near Seattle). But another independent business person recommended dance schools, community centers hair salons, and consignment shops.

I'd already thought of the consignment shops. Anyone else tried something similar or have a better suggestion, or more ideas on where we can post or drop one of these by? I have about 100 total, and exposure is more important than EVER with me having been "laid off".

What do you say when you walk in the door?! Did I mention I am monumentally shy?

I'm just getting started but this sounds like a great idea! How about daycares? There is usually a board that has upcoming events when you pick up your kiddos!

I've heard nurses love to buy up bows. Wholefoods has a board for flyers and business cards. Most small town groceries do, too.

Wholefoods is a good suggestion. We already thought about grocery stores. Daycares are very particular about anything they post (I used to work at one) but I came up with the idea of photography studios, dance classes and consignment stores, oh and churches. I'm going to go tomorrow to see if my grandmother's church will post one and my mother is going to go door to door to all these businesses I have on a list (what in the WORLD would I do without out her, considering I'm a little social anxious) later in the week. I printed up cheap paper flyers for papering windshields at the local park and ride near the mall. We are also going to hit all the local grocers bulletin boards and I'm starting to spread that word around my daughter's daycare.

I still need more ideas!!!

What about pediatricians office? People are always looking for things to look at there.

Oh man, I totally forgot that most of the business I've gotten in the last month has been at the hospital that my mother works for. I don't know how I could convince a pediatrician to let me advertise at their office though. It would be a good place to reach parents though.

I am a nailtech and I would print up flyers and never get any business from putting them in mailboxes . SO i recommend putting them in salons, etc. , maybe consignement shops etc.

What do your postcards say? I have been thinking of placing an ad in the pennysaver or on craigslist....but haven't really put much thought into anything else yet.
