Anyone with Facebook Fan Pages

Check your personal settings and make sure that you've set your settings so that you have to approve everyone who wants to be your friend. This way you'll get an email saying "Harry" wants to be your friend and all you have to do is deny or ignore their request. This way they will not have access to your personal information.

This way you can fan or send out your link for someone to fan you without worrying about them becoming a friend.

clearly i'm an idiot! (it doesn't usually take me so long to get something, i promise!).

my settings are already set so that someone has to request to be my friend, which is how i like it.

but is there a way for me to invite someone to become a fan that's not my friend? say i search for a particular person on Facebook and want to invite them to my fan page, do you mean i should just send them a message with the link to the fan page?

Now I'm not a face book expert but when I originally set my page up it asked if I wanted to send invites to my friends. Since then I've had people fan by sharing the link with them. So whether or not there's another way I don't know but I'd love to find out.
