~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just as a shot in the dark, I posted on Craigslist in the wee hours of the night. No kidding, that morning my one and only reply was from a boutique owner asking that we meet to discuss the possibilities of her consigning my items in her store. I was leary it was a scam but its been a sucess and I have my items in my first brick & mortar store!!!
It was great for me because she is a boutique in a historic part of a small town lined with little shops BUT it wasn't my "dream" boutique. I took it as a practice experience (with meeting with her, preping my paperwork, portfolio etc..) so that when I meet with the other boutiques I've had a little experience. Thats the one bonus of glitzy California we've got boutiques lining the streets so I have many opportunities, makes up for the $4 gas and the sky rocketing cost of living... just kidding. So give Craigslist a try, if worst they flag you nothing lost, if best you'll meet new clientele. FYI, I mentioned my website and my email, guess I made it without getting flagged the grouches were off that day. ![]() |
I have luck with Craigslist too. I think I now have mine worded so it doesn't get flagged each time.
I also do some advertising on Craigslist. I have had some inquiries, but nothing has ever materialized from it. My first inquiry was from a boutique owner who wanted to order wholesale. She seemed to be really excited until she told me she did not have a paypal acct, but could pay any other way. I told her that was all I could accept since she was not local to me, and that it was really easy and free to set up an account with them. I never heard from her again. I am pretty sure it was someone trying to scam me.
I am attempting advertising on there again. We'll see how it goes!
And yes cali craigs list the flag you for every thing! uggh...you have to be just soso or poof your gone! also the competition can be brutal here.
