Default Machine Embroidery

I purchase some really lovely machine embroidered pieces to attach to clips. Should I out felt on the back before I attach or leave it as is?

I'm slightly confused by your wording but I don't cut anything except the outline of the feltie. HTH

I use 2 layers of felt with a layer of interfacing in between the felt layers.

Yes! If you didn't stitch it with felt on back then I would add some for a more finished look but it is easier to stitch it that way.
