Default Does it have to be felt?

Hi all,

I just sat down on sofa with hubby to try my hand at my first handmade ribbon flower while watching World Series and realized that the recipe called for 2 felt circles. I'd forgotten. I have none. Is there anything else that can be used in it's place? Felt, that is.

Felt is one of my next "staple" purchases. Yikes, all of this is getting expensive. I'd almost rather just go and get a very small business loan and buy everything up so that I don't keep having to wait until I have a few bucks to purchase another something to go toward the supplies we will need to start making accessories and then eventually get ourselves launched.

Whew!

I think it depends on what kind of flower you are making and what you are attaching it to. I've used matching fabric before but the felt makes it a little sturdier.

I agree with the previous poster. It depends upon the type of flower you are trying to make. You might need a certain amount of stiffness to achieve the affect you want.

Like Amylynn said. It all depends on what you're attaching it to. If it is attached to something where you won't really see the back, you can leave them as is. If there is a possibility of you seeing the back, like she said, you can use fabric to cover it if you HAVE to, but felt is better.

I have a GB going on for felt right now though, if you're interested

Welp, sounds like I'd better get on the ball and get myself some felt!

Really appreciate your feedback. I feel like I am in school when here. I love it!

There are different types of felt, too. Eco-felt is the cheapest, then wool blend and 100% wool felt. Wool felt is the most expensive and is not washable, but it is a better grade of felt.
