Question Bow cards?

Ok, so for a long time now I've just used pre-made bow cards, like RABOM's or in a pinch, I would just take solid card stock, cut it and round the edges with a corner punch and then cut slits. This looks CHEAP, and so do the RABOM for that matter compared to some of the cute ones I've seen on here. So, how do you guys make yours? How do you cut the slits so precisely? Do you use card stock and then print on them with your printer? Or do you order them from somewhere? I would just like to step it up a notch.

I read some where that the holes are made using a bow punch.

I've seen people talk about using postcards from vista print as well.

Yep, postcards from Vistaprint and a punch with 2 equal slots. There are different styles and sizes.

I never knew they made a slot punch...going to be looking for one of those shortly.

Ive actually been going pretty cheap and using index cards and cutting my own uneven ugly slots but its hidden by the bow so I dont really care. And then I just print out labels and stick them on the cards. Not nearly as pretty as some out there but its something.

yup . . . that bow punch works great . . . but because of its limited reach, it works best w/business cards from v/print. i can only do 2 cards at a time w/this punch.

in a pinch . . . a regular hole punch works okay w/postcards . . . but i'm gonna look for the long reach one for larger cards . . . http://www.paperwishes.com/products/7219380000

I use my postcards that I get from Vista, and my rotary cutter blade to make my slits. I just make a quick pencil mark on the postcard where I want the slits to be, then run the blade back and forth over that spot once or twice, and voila! Perfect slits. I like this method because I don't have to worry about the limited reach of punch.

That's what I was doing on my cardstock, but was having a hard time getting it exactly even that way, but maybe I wouldn't care as much if the cards were prettier. It'd destract from my uneven cuts. ha ha. I had heard about vista print before also, but had looked at the business cards before and was having a hard time with how they were set up, and were thinking they were too small. I hadn't looked at the post cards though. Now what about elastic headbands? Do you just wrap them around the post cards a few times?
