Default Clip in feather extensions

I'm really wanting to do some of these for a show coming up. I would be making them on clips from the feathers, maybe even using the crimp breads? I've google'd how to make feather extensions and hair extensions and I'm not really seeing a method I love. Has anyone done this? Any tips?

My mom makes them, she use the snap clips. IMO the snap clips are the way to go because they are easy to put in and take out. I wish she would make a tutorial, she hand dyes them and everything.

Using crimp beads looks nice also, there is a tool that helps you pull the hair through. I have had them in before and they last quite awhile. If you get the ones with silicon in the middle, they will hold better which is great for someone with fine hair.

From reading a different thread about these I found out that in most states you need a cosmetology license to put the feathers in other peoples hair so it might be easier to just do a clip.

In many states you do. In California where the OP is from, you don't need a license.

Good to know! I figured we did since well it's California and they want money for everything! My sis in law has a cosmetology license and I thought about having her do them for me but now no need, awesome, thanks for sharing.

I had been thinking of making hippie wraps to add to hair pretty much the same way as feather extensions, but I think the snap clips would be too bulky for what I wanted. I thought about using tiny jaw clips, but idk where to get them wholesale. Maybe just wait for them to be BOGO at Walgreens or something. I think Scunci makes some that are pretty small. Do you think those would work for your feather extensions? (I've never made those, so idk how you have to attach them to the clips)

I went on the Ca.Gov Board Of Barbering And Cosmetology and this is what it says:

A license is not required for hair extensions that are applied/attached without the use of any tools or instruments.
Hair may be attached using any of the following methods:
twisting
wrapping
weaving
locking
braiding

A license is required if during the process of applying/attaching hair extensions the hair is washed, colored, cut, styled.

My friend works at a cosmetology school and she actually told me that it's going to be easier to get your cosmetology license now because they have so many students enrolled right now. When they go to take the state board they only do half of whatever they are asked to do and the rest they just explain how they would finish it.

My 6 yr old dd wanted some in her hair, but I didn't want to use the crimp beads since I didn't know how the school would act about it. Anyways, I used some of those little show clip things. Like these http://www.etsy.com/listing/80511466...facet=supplies

I kinda wove end of the feather through the different holes and the cut some of the self adhesive craft foam for the inside (top and bottom) and them lined the outside of the clip thingy with ribbon the same color as the feather. I know it might be kinda tacky, but my 6 yr old was happy with it and when she came home from school, I had to make 7 more for some of her friends. I'll try finding hers so I can take some pics of it.

Got some put in my hair yesterday and she used crimp beads for the hair. Never added a pic before, but will try tomorrow.
