Default Applying Appliques to Crochet tops

I have a few appliques that are Iron Ons, and just got a embroidery machine so will be making my own soon.

I stretched the Crochet top and Ironed on the Iron On paying close attention to making sure all parts were securely ironed down. Is this the best way?
Let me know if I am doing this right. Any tips and tricks.

As far as when I am sewing them myself. Can I hoop the crochet headband? Anyone tried it. Thanks!
