Default NEED HELP!! Covering 1.5" plastic headbands

I am going to start throwing headbands across the room! I am trying to cover 1.5" plastic headbands with ribbon. I've tried weaving....doesn't work. I've tried 7/8", 1.5", and 2 1/4" ribbon. No luck for wrapping. I even tried sewing the ribbon. I have waisted a ton of ribbon on this and I am going nuts. I hate not being able to make something work. Can anyone help.

Help could mean selling me some or giving me tips on how in the world to accomplish this! Thanks!!

Have you tried using 5/8 in ribbon and use double sided tape to hold your ribbons in place?

That's the one size I didn't try!! I used tape and ended up covering with 2 1/4 but I wasn't satisfied. I will give 5/8 a try!!

Maybe you could use fabric, or sew two 1.5 ribbons together and slip it over the headband.

Hi, I use fabric.. I use silk and satins. The fabric is a little more malable. Sometimes I even tear strips.. Be fast with the glue gun.. There is a learning curve... I think I burned myself on my gun alot until I got the hang of it...

If that doiesn't work, make a sleeve and slide it on. UGH Tough one though. Good luck.

The problem with the sleeve is that it has to be 1.5" everywhere so that it will slide on. (And I found that 1.5" ribbon wouldn't work so I had to use 2 1/4" so it was really bulky) Then the ends looks so different.

The problem with the headband is that it's so skinny on the ends and gets so big so quickly...

I can cover the 3/4" and 1" ones with my eyes closed at this point, but this one is just a pain. I feel like I did when I couldn't master the twisted bow!!!

i was thinking fabric too and glue the seam underneath the headband and then glue a strip of the braided trim (on a roll) to hide the seam. i have a few of the thick headbands and have done nothing with them for that exact reason!! good luck
