Default korker bows

ok, so i have made some of them--but they dont look like everyone elses-so my question is--how do you put them together? i use a big needle through the center of the ribbon and then once i get all of them on there i pull the needle through and then wrap the thread about 4 times around the bow really tight. but i can always see my thread in spots and sometimes they are puffy. so how does everyone else do it? also--i sold some before i had read about stiffener-will they hold up? do you just use spray starch? do you spray them while they are on the dowle or can they be off--bc stupid me just made a bunch of korker ribbon and took them off!!! also--how long do you cut your ribbons and how many do you use??
here are some pics of mine-

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the top one... but they are all very good I've never sprayed my korker. Will it not stay if you don't?

I love your first bow--so cute! I think that you can use "Stiffen Stuff" and spray it on the korker prior to putting it in the oven, or once you put the bow together, you can shape the korkers then spray. I have never used hairspray--but the Stiffen Stuff works well. I use embroidery thread in a color similar to what I am sewing, and sew through the center of the korkers and then stitch back through the center and tie it in a knot--if that makes sense--that way, you never see the thread...but I love the idea of using the clear thread!!! I have also seen Korker Boxes on eBay--but have never used one.

i love your first bow, the colors are so pretty!
This is how I do mine also. For my 2" korkers I cut them into 2" strips. I use about 20 of them and sew them together. For the larger size (about 3") I cut them into 2 1/2 - 3" lengths and use about 26 or so. I am just going off memory for the bigger size. I think that is how I do it

it appears you are using 3/8" ribbon...what size dowels are you wrapping them on? i think the dowel you are using is thinner than others use, making your corkers appear "tighter". if you want them to look more like mainstream then try a thicker dowel and see what you think.
they are small dowels--they are just over 1/8" wide--what size does everyone use???

I bought mine at Wal-mart. The TRR instructions say to use 1/4" dowel, but Wal-mart didn't have 1/4" so I bought the one that seemed closest in size. Honestly, I can't remember what the size was, but they seem to turn out just right.

how many times do you go throw the ribbon--i find it hard to pull a needle through 25 pieces of ribbon too many times!

well, dh has to go to walmart for me--so i will add that to his list to get me!!
was it one big one or a pack of smaller ones--the reason i got the ones i did was bc hobby lobby had a pack of 12 that were 12 inches long--perfect--i didnt have to cut anything

For my korkers- I stack them in the L brackets. I use 30 pieces, all 2 inches long.

When I cook them- they are 3/8 ribbon on 1/4 dowels. Spray starch after the get out of the oven.

I use 1/8 matching ribbon to tie them. I don't remember the website..hmm.. let me check. I think it's www.ribbonqueen.com is the technique I use. I pull the ribbon as tight as I possibly can and then knot several times. Then attach to alligator clippies.
