Default A tutu dress with a lattice weave pattern

Thank you for reading my post. Last year, with the help of a great tutorial, I made my daughter's competition dance costume. It was a tutu with fall leaves and lots of rhinestones attached (first 2 pics).

This year, my daughter's dance instructor has asked me to make her solo costume again as an empire waist tutu dress. Attached (3rd photo) is my inspiration dress. I think I have the 2 elastic bands figured out. However, over the course of the past 3 days I simply cannot figure out how to weave the tulle in such a lattice pattern.

I found this dress on etsy, but now it is gone. I saved the photo but was not intuitive enough to save the link to the seller. Now I cannot find it. I would certainly be willing to pay for a tutorial or help on how to make this, but I cannot find instructions anywhere on the internet.

I was hoping with all the talent on this site I may be able to find somebody with experience or insight on how to do a basket/lattice weave with tulle.

Kind Regards,

Erin

I see that this post is a couple years old-- I have been looking for a pattern myself, and was wondering if you ever had any luck with this search?? A friend of mine is trying to make a lattice tutu for her daughter to wear as a flower girl in her friends wedding.

I checked YouTube. Lots of tutorials for tutus, but not the lattice dress. The wedding is in May. Idk how long it would take to put one together, but I'm sure she would like to get a start on it asap, to give herself time in case she messes up. No pressure tho, Vexys! Haha

Wink Re: A tutu dress with a lattice weave pattern

I can tell you how to make this dress. I make a tutu dress that has the bodice (minus the basket weave) and if you can make the basic dress then the weave is relatively easy, I imagine. lol. Here is a pic of the dress done without the weave. It is made on a 6" or larger crochet knit top and tied at the top of the tube top instead of the bottom. The tulle is then pulled back through the holes at the bottom of the tube top. This makes the empire waist.
The weave would be started the same way but would be taken through a hole a couple spots to the right or left (at the bottom of the tube top). I can try to make a tutorial but I thought I'd share some of the info ahead of time in case someone might be better/faster at tutorials than I am. lol

Hmm, I may have to try out this basket weave style next time I make a tutu dress. Looks like it might be easier said than done lol.
