Do you think the outer ribbon on the bottom layer is ribbon, or fabric. I never thought of using fabric like that. It would give you so many additional options.

maybe the fabric is just folded and ironed like bias binding IYKWIM? Then glued with fabric glue? Or starched as well? Think it would take a few tries to work it out. Am sure you girls will suss it out very soon........

It has to be fused to something right? But it doesn't look like interfacing, whatever it is looks clear. I think I'll ask around at the fabric stores. If you ironed it to a stiffener or interfacing, then cut...

Will have to play with it.

It would be neat to match the fabric in the bow with a covered button center and then do matching accessories.

In her description she says it is fabric.
"This scrumptious pair of ice cream sundae bows will be perfect to wear with her Soda Fountain sets or on a trip to the ice cream parlor this summer! They feature Soda Fountain fabric on the base bow and hot fudge sundae centers. The bows measure approximately 4 inches across and are secured to lined french clip"

I think the fabric is cut then the edges folded in and pressed and starched.

I have covered ribbon with fabric before. You iron Heat N Bond on the fabric, cut it to shape (a quilters rotary cutter and cutting mat were probably used here) and iron it on. The Heat N Bond helps keep the edges from fraying. Hope that helps!

You can also use a fusible webbing instead of heat and bond. Depending on the ribbon and fabric sometimes the webbing works better cause its not as heavy as the H&B.
It is simple to cut strips with the rotary cutter. If you want the fabric strips to be a little stiff and be sealed so they won't fray you can put a light coat of Mod Podge on it.
Making 'ribbon' from fabric gives you endless possibilities!

I would have to agree pratice makes it all the pay off results. I'm still not as close to that as I would like to be. Those are neat.
