Unhappy Have you SEEN! Facebook..blah

Facebook released new "contest" rules a few months back. This was just brought to my attention by a mom here in the area when I asked her to join our back to school photo contest on our page, where you have friends and family like the pictures to win. Here are the new rules: http://www.facebook.com/promotions_guidelines.php

What are we supposed to do now? Anyone have this figured out yet? I would love to hear what type of contests you hold on your pages to keep people interested, legally!!!! At a loss for words right now Is there anyway I could change my photo game so it is "legal" so I don't have to cancel the whole thing?

I think we've decided to offer the contests on our business website instead. We can share the link on facebook and continue to have people participate in all and any games we offer, they will just have to take place on our own personal website. More work for my husband Sorry dear. But if anyone thinks of any other way to go about this and continue to offer contests, PLEASE let me know!

That is hosted by a third party and I believe they make you pay something like $60/month or use the app. they've created. Don't mark my word..I haven't researched it thoroughly. It's facebooks way to get you to pay for their ads to get more fans or pay those who sponsor facebook to make it free for all.

Looks like that pretty much make all contests/giveaways illegal for FB. How are they going to crack down on that. That release is May and I have seen contests daily. Wonder how it will be policed and what any consequences will be.

Can you tell me the info on that app? What it's called exactly for me to look it up? My husband just about has our website ready to host the contest right on the website, which will also bring more traffic to our website. He's been busting his bum all night working on it. But I'm still interested! Thanks.

I've had one woman say their page was just taken down by facebook and they were sent an email explaining why. She had to start all over. Another woman said that she was emailed explaining that she was in violation and to correct her page or it would be taken down. I don't know either one of these two personally, so I've just began looking into it myself.

I know a few moms had complained to me about "liking" the photo to vote bc they said it was biased and not fair for the contestants. In other words, popularity wins... So I thought maybe it was just an envious mom who was upset. Obviously that wasn't the case at all, this is real. I do want to comply with fb, I enjoy being on there and communicating with my fans on there. When in Rome....
