Default Color Inspiration

This may be silly, but I'm trying to build some inspiration for my artsy-side!

What inspires the colors you choose for your bows? Is it an outfit, based off of M2M, a piece of ribbon with different colors, or are you just one of those people who can just in vision a bow and do it?

It seems like when I want to try something out with layering different colors, I seem to talk myself out of it.. wondering if it will look as good as I think, or if I could do something different that would look better. I think the same could go for textures, as well.
I'm just curious.. How do you pick out your colors? Obviously picking matching colors is easy, but what about your contrast you throw in there? I have seen some amazing bows on here, and am amazed at how creative everyone is!

I have a hard time too. Sometimes I'll sit down with all intentions of doing a really great (maybe funky?) colorful bow...and I end up being matchy-matchy and oh so precise.

If I have an outfit to match of course that is how I decide, but that is usually when crafting for my daughter. When crafting to sell I look at my ribbons or centers and see which one looks interesting, then I build a bow off of that. Of course that doesn't work for basic bows, but then my basic bows don't tend to be really basic anyhow, I always seem to throw something in there to keep it from being completely basic, could be a slider, or a polka dot ribbon center, I really don't like basic basic.

I seem to gather color inspirations from just about anywhere and anything. Like many have stated already I use my daughter's outfits and create bows to match. But I also gather inspirations by looking in magazines. I have found that I like to use fashion as a guide, when I'm out at shopping centers I look at the colors that are dominating because those tend to be the colors for the season. But over time you will learn to find inspiration anywhere. I just was inpired by some artwork in my home and created a whole collection off of it
Good luck!!!
