Default How could I make a tutu look like this?

Ladies -

I am just starting and I made my first pettitutu, which I will share later.

But I would love to know how they make their tutus look SO FULL like this http://www.etsy.com/listing/76818139...ize-nb-thru-3t

and give it at that price.

What kind of tulle is it?

Thanks for your help and comments.

Nancy

i think its just the way she places her knots zoom one of her pics that show the knots like the rainbow tutu and you can take a look at her knots try to replicate them and youll get the same effect.

She is probably using two pieces of tulle per know and then my guess would be alternating where the knot is on each strip, one knot at the bottom of the elastic, one in the middle, one on the top. It's really cute, and with the bow and headband really inexpensive.

Ok, I do the up and down method all the time. Are you saying that it would go up, middle, down, up, middle, down and then at the very end you just pull the "up" ones down and leave the middle and down ones?
Also, do you think she's slip knotting?

I made DD a tutu and it was sooooo full. I used 2 pieces of tulle each time I knotted. It was full and pretty large, but she loved it.

Also, I can say for certain that the tulle comes from a domestic mill and not imported ...

It's also a fairly short cut - so the tulle doesn't have a chance to 'fall', so that helps with the fullness for the camera, but it won't be quite that way when its worn.

Depends on length, waist size, etc... 5-6 strands per inch of waist, times length (x2 because they're usually folded to be tied)... so at 8" length, 18" waist, you'd need about 48 yards.

Everyone does it differently, though -- so if you double up the strands, and still use 5-6 doubles per inch, you're using twice as much (100 yards)..
