Default woven barrettes

I got a request for woven barrettes, which I had to look up (don't laugh, I was born in 1988) and I found a couple tutorials that were lacking a supply list. I am assuming you use 1/8 inch ribbon, anyone know? and are the 10 inch tails necessary? I kinda think that is a little long (and reminds me of all the "strangulation hazard" posts about lollitops) Anyone make them without tails or with shorter tails?

There are two tutorials in this post http://ilikebigbows.blogspot.com/201...ber-these.html

The second one does mention 1/8 inch ribbon.

yes, you do use 1/8 ribbon, you can choose to make the tails whatever length that you want. I make these pretty regularly as they are a good seller for me. For the older girls you can even add beads to the tails..

so you will need 1/8 ribbon in at least 2 colors, double barrel barrettes, glue, and optional beads.. HTH

Why do I not remember these? I guess I've blocked some things from my childhood, lol.

Definitely looks like 1/8 to me.

I love these but I can never get the beads to stay on the ends. I've tried putting a knot but the bead slips out. Is there a certain kind of bead to use?

i remember wearing these, and some people had the pony beads, but the ones i had were small clear facet beads that had smaller holes and will hold on with a knot underneath. hth
