Default Need some "buggy" ideas...

I have decided to do an insect themed event next weekend and I was wondering if anyone has some creative ideas I could do with this theme.

We already have these:
flip flops
pillowcase dresses
tie onesies
headbands w/ antennae
wings
tutus
tons of sculptures (ladybugs, butterflies, spiders, caterpillars, dragonflies)
Bows of course

I just have no idea what else we can do. I am hoping for some ideas especially for boys. There has to be something I'm just not thinking of, right?

Thanks ladies!!!

maybe some decorated butterfly net catchers and caterpillar pet storage boxes(not sure what they are really called but I've seen them at target in the dollar bins) in my area all the kids are carrying them around with pet caterpillars and bugs inside

I like the butterfly catcher idea. Also, how about something for lightening bugs. My kids love catching lightening bugs.

That is an awesome idea! I used to catch lightning bugs every night when I was little. Unfortunately Colorado is not the kind of state that has them. I still get excited to see them when we go back east.

Since you are looking for boy ideas...

I recently attended a scout event where the boys had found rocks and painted them. There were smoother rocks painted like lady bugs, spiders with rocks that were painted black & pipe cleaner legs, caterpillars with small round rocks painted and then hot glued together.

It was a very cute event and the leaders had collected small branches to display the bugs on for centerpieces. I hope you have loads of fun!!

I made soap for my kids ages ago. It was a huge it, we just used the clear glycerin soap and put plastic bugs in the middle. Then when the soap was all used they had a buggy to keep

What about some t-shirts with bug appliques for boys.....or making some actual bugs. My son absolutely loves bugs right now.

Or maybe wall art?

Good luck with your show. Love the theme!

Years ago , one of my boys had the cutest t shirt. It was store bought but would be easy to make. It was just a white t shirt with a couple of bugs painted on it in a few random places. Then on the front ( chest) there was a little pouch in the shape of a jar sewn on. It was made out of that thick , clear stuff like table cloths (plastic ). I think you can buy it by the yard. A place to keep their bugs....it was sooooo cute. I hope you can envision what I mean.
