Default Sewn tutu

When you sew your tutus, Do you keep the strip flat and the sew or do you hand bunch it and then sew?

Do you sew each strip individually or do you line them up and sew it all at once?

I gather it at the top to with my sewing machine to make them more fluffy and I do this for each strip, I'm actually debating on trying to make one out of fabric from the bolt

I just lay my strip out flat (doubled over), sew along for the waistband, then add the next strip and sew along that. I then bunch it all up as I'm pulling the elastic through the top. Easy peasy.

What do you mean by gather? I can't picture that with the tulle strips or are you using it off the bolt. But if so, I still can't picture the gathering part.

By gathering I mean kind of ruffling it, if that makes sense? sorry i'm not great with sewing terms, I either use my ruffler foot to ruffle the top or I will just straight stitch and pull the threads so that it looks "gathered" it makes it look all nice and bunched up. I do this with tulle on the bolt, I don't normally do strips of tulle for a sewn tutu because there is just too much start...stop...start...stop for me.

Ok, I get what you're saying. I just couldn't imagine it with strips.

I make mine from the bolt and send it through the serger to gather it first, then it gets gathered a second time when I put the waistband on and add elastic.
