Default What Bow?

I've just started making the stacked bows. My question for all of you is. What bow style do you like to use for your base bow? I used a Twisted Boutique bow on mine, but I've seen where other's use the Pinwheel as their base. Here is a pic of my finished stacked bow.

Up until about 6 months ago I always used a twisted as the base. Someone suggested using a pinwheel, I tried it & now love making
them that way. They "lay" so much better & in my opinion look
better.

It is a preference thing. I do both and do them without a base bow. Customers want the bow to sit differently on their child's head. The pinwheel base gives it a more hugged look to their head where as the TBB gives you that "bowhead" look. Others don't like the base bow because it gives too much padding underneath and like for the tbb look but not all the bulk.

I prefer a pinwheel, or without a base bow. the double boutique looks too bulky for me.

Thanks so much! I've been trying and trying to make the Pinwheel work on mine and I'm not having much luck. Do you guys feel the more spikes the better or not? Do you go with a huge variety of colors on the spikes?

Honestly it is your creation and it is up to you to create some kind of pattern with the spikes. There are so many ways to do the spikes color wise and patterns. You can use 2 altering colors or add more. It is all up to you.

I use pinwheels as base bows usually. Unless it is for my custom bows for the moms that like the BIG bows. I use 7 spikes usually, unless I am making a super over the top bow. 1 spike is 1.5 inch ribbon in the center, and 6 spikes are 7/8 inch ribbon that fans out. Make sense? I don't really think there is a wrong way to do spikes, just personal preference and being creative with color choices.

I don't to a base bow on mine...one less bow to make lol It's just as good as those with base bows. I like the look of the twisted base than a pinwheel base if that counts!
