Default Cheer Bow Question

Ok. I am super nervous and excited all at once. I will find out next week if I will be making bows for a local cheer squad. She loved my bows, but I added rhinestones to them. She wasn't sure if they could wear them with the rhinestones. Can they? Also what's the most common cheer bow you guys make? This is my first time.

TIA

I'm confused. Do you mean the first time making a cheer bow.. or the first time making them for a squad?

There's a couple of girls on here who make gorgeous cheer bows. If you do a search, I'm sure you'll find lots of helpful posts by them.

Good luck! Hope you get the job!

Thanks. I made what I called a cheer bow. She seen these and loved them. The only prob was (which I can leave them off) I put plastic Rhinestones on them so she was unsure if it was against the rules.

I'm pretty sure there are strict rules for cheer bows (no metal, etc.). Maybe you can just ask the squad leader what their rules are?

To the best of my knowledge there are no rules that say you cannot have rhinestones on your bows. I would make sure they are securely attached though.

I am not sure if like glitter, if one should fall off on the floor there may be a penalty. I really don't know. I guess I am just playing Devil's advocate!

My avatar is the only style cheer bow I make. It is just a plain tails down bow. I can use it for full sized bows and piggies too by adjusting the ribbon widths and length. NoBowNoGo has the best TUT around and a bargain at $5.00 .

There are other styles out there. You may want to check out Yella Ribbon. They have awesome cheer bows and they make them in a few different styles.

Good luck!

Heya gmcks!!

Just my $.02, you can apply rhinestones to your bows, but some coaches may decline the extra bling because if one rhinestone falls off and catches the eye of a judge while it sparkles on the floor.... That's a safety deduction, although it's only a .02 or .04, it may cost them a spot on the podium (so to speak).

Anywho, have a great day!

I agree that it may cost a spot on the much coveted podium. But both you and I know that we would risk it for lots of bling. Bling is always better!

Thanks guys. Yes I checked out yellaribbons . I am drooling. OMG!!!! BTW I was told today I got it. Yay!!!!! I don't how many she'll need yet b/c they have to hold try outs first. She said though that they want 2 per girl. I guess they're doing piggies? If you guys don't mind. (If you don't wanna share I understand). What in the world is mystic fabric? I am mesmerized by it. I told the girl that at first I will not be able to make the real fancy ones and they are ok with that, but I really wanna try to make the really pretty bows.

Thanks guys

Mystique is a metallic type of spandex fabric. You can purchase it online at Spandexworld.com. Joann's sells it as well, but in limited colors. It is about $13 per yard, but a little goes a very long way.

For the best instructions, I would highly recommend purchasing the NoBowNoGo instructions at $5.00. It comes complete with pictures.

Congrats on the order. I am sure you will do great. Don't forget to submit pics. I'd love to see what your finished product looks like

Good Luck!

Ann
