I used to only starch my bows (I believe I use faultless brand 97 at target/walmart) but then my sister in law let my neice suck on her bow before her photos and then let the bow dry and it looked soooo bad because mommy didn't reshape it or anything. It was something I could fix but I didn't want my customers to have to worry about. So now I lightly starch and BAKE all my twisted's. I don't really starch any other of my bows.

I use "Stiffy Stuff" from Michael's. If you use a 40% off coupon it is $4.44. It is expensive but I think worth the money. I will not use anything else. I have tried different startch's but it has never given me the nice stiffness that "Stiffy Stuff" does. JMO

I think I'm in the minority here but I don't starch or bake, I don't like the way the ribbon feels "crispy".

WOW, your bows are BEAUTIFUL. I'm just curious though how do you get them to hold shape if you don't use any stiffener? I also use stiffen stuff or whatever it is called from Micheals, it says it's non toxic. I was thinking of trying to bake them though.

And also along with bidid I do not like the feel of a crisp bow BUT I'm not wearing them so I might try out the spray and bake.....

Thank you!

I don't make huge bows most of mine are about 3.5" 4". I fold them making sure the loops are full and then sew the centres, as long as you pull the thread tight enough the loops stay perky I don't use wire as I can't get enough tension, I just shape them and they stay.
I don't clip the centre before I sew as again I lose the tension, its just fold, hold and sew at the same time, pull, wrap the tread around the bow three times and your done!
