I made mine with an old oatmeal container. I covered it with batting and then fabric. (Also hot glued some bows to the top) VERY EASY!

Could you use the cylinder mailing tube from the post office? It is pretty sturdy and it would be new.

Thanks! I just used a piece of plywood...my hubby is handy with tools, so he cut me some pieces small enough.

I keep seeing these and want to make one, but haven't gotten around to it. To make the oatmeal containers studier maybe you could do a few layers of paper mache? I made a pinata for my son once and I put a few too many layers...the thing would NOT break. It's cheap and easy. I'm thinking it would have to be on the inside also though, just an idea.
