I know it's not how she did it, but my first thought was the clear glass tiles (similar to the scrabble tiles). They might make the bow too heavy though??? As a children's author, I LOVE these!!!!

[QUOTE=Tess9737;1044563]Wow ~ that bow maker is talented! I love how orginonal her ideas are. If I had come up with something unique like that, I wouldn't share it either!

I can Understand a Little not wanting people to know how you do thing's. There are other people out there who do things that look very similar and I'm trying to see if I can get help from one of them. I don't sell my bows on line. I make them for my nieces, and I can get that people who sell don't want to share the way they do thing's cause they don't want any competition. But If no one ever helped anyone learn new thing's then where would half the people in this Forum be?

I may be way off base, but I swear it looks like Shrinky Dinks that you can print your own design on. Maybe she put it on some clay for stability.

You can transfer images onto polymer clay, kind of like t-shirt transfer. There are different methods, I've always wanted to try it, do a google search and you might find a good tutorial.

Right, and I wasn't indicating it wasn't ok to ask us girls how to make them. Alot of girls see things they'd like to make and inquire to see anyone knows how to do it. And the ladies here are so helpful ~ its such a great forum to share ideas and help each other out. Just wanted to offer a bit of perspective on why the original makers might not want to share the process, because I probably wouldn't. While I'm happy to help offer advice when I can, there are a few items I make that I'm not willing to pass out directions to. These are things that I learned to make through lots of trial and error. And its not a hobby to me, its a business. I understand you're not looking to sell them online, but I've had 2 "friends" ask me how to make bows for their daughters and immediately start bow businesses, lol. So alot of us have been burnt by friends and strangers alike.

Anyway, if you try out any of these ideas ~ let us know how they turn out! Its such a cute idea for bow centers! And welcome to the forum!!!

Im pretty sure its a resin back. Then you print out the book in a smaller size. You can get the image off the net. Use E6000 to stick it to the resin and then do the top layer with a diamond glaze. I have used glass tiles you can get from etsy.com. You put whatever image to the back of the glass again using diamond glaze. Good luck!

It kind of looks like printed vellum with a high shine top coat/resin.

If you're only looking to create something that is similar (for your nieces), then a scrabble tile would work nicely. It's lightweight, versatile and you can cover it with a plastic dome. You really don't have to make it exactly the same way as the original item.

And I agree with Tess. If I were the other bowmaker, I wouldn't divulge my technique either.

That's my guess as well. Even if it's not I'm pretty sure it would work.

Wow, those are so cute! If anyone finds out how to make them I would love to know. My 5 year old loves to read and loves bows so what a great combo that would be.
