It's not a petti tutu. It's a jean skirt tutu.

I make these... this is the over all tutu dress I made for my daughter. Of course I made the tutu part longer. They're pretty easy to make though.

Get an old pair of jeans and cut the legs off.

Make a tutu the way you normally would and sew it onto the jeans. The overalls I sewed to the inside and put the ribbon around the outside to give it the finished look.

For a skirt like this one I would make it a super small tutu and sew it to the outside.

The one I made for my daughter (see my previous post for the pic) I wash by hand and hang to dry. A lot of times I just spot clean it because my daughter isn't usually that messy and if she does eat something messy I take it off or put a towel around her neck.

I have heard of people who put them in a Dryell (or other home dry cleaning bag) and put it in the washer. I have never done this but I think I might give it a try.

Ok ladies, I justed tried one of these for my daughter and it turned out super cute.I took 6 - 6inch stripes of tulle that were about 5-6 ft long and stacked them, pinned them together, and then ran a gather stitch down the center of them.I them gathered the tulle to the length needed to go around the size 6 skirt i purchsed and pinned in place. Then I just ran in through my machine sewing it directly onto the skirt. Then I just fluffed one layer at a time. Mine turned out full and fluffy just like the pic in the original post.

That's how I've made them in the past except I hand sewed the layers together because the tulle was catching on the feeder foot on my old machine. It's how you make the socks too Thanks for sharing Deanew!
