Default How to make this style of tutu

Ok, so this might be a noobish question but I can't figure out how someone makes a tutu look like this, Mine is puffy... I don't know how you get this messy look without it looking stupid.

Thanks

I think that's actually a HG's etsy shop! Not 100% sure, but I know that the shop owner pic is of a HG! Maybe she'll pop on here and give you some tips.

It looks like it's just longer strips, tho. When I make them, the shorter the tulle is, the poofier they are. Tutus really are trial & error. GL!

I have long tutus as well but they don't look 'krinkley' like that. I'm just wondering what the secret is lol

lol i don't know but i can guess just based on the fact that, after wearing a lot of the tutus i make they end up like that... so you may just hand crinkle them

Kimber Perry is a member here, and she is really awesome! If my memory doesn't totally fail me her husband makes the adult tutus and she designs the children's tutus.

As for how to make them, that is exactly what Meri's tutus look like after she has worn them for a day, been scrunched into a car seat, and carried around... so I assume scrunch, scrunch, scrunch!

Quote from listing - This is a 3 layer tattered tutu. It has be scrunched and bunched to give it rough look

you could also cut the strips thinner

LOL when I scrunch my tutus they just look horrible. I guess I don't have the magic touch for that style. Do you think the width of the tulle makes a difference? I generally cut it to 6". Also, do you think the knot makes a difference? I double knot.

Mine are also 6in wide, but I do use the ox head knot, I think that is what it was called in girl scouts, wow that was a long long time ago!

I like the tutus when they are freshly made and all nice and straight, but they never stay that way for me, so I am learning to adjust and accept that when my dd wears them they lose that freshly made look and are still cute, just 'ruffly' (fighting thinking they are wrinkly!).

I have a friend who makes them similar to that. She actually scrunches them up and puts them in a zip-lock for a day, and they come out with that look.
