Default Making ruffles for a ruffle shirt

I love the look of the ruffles and wanted to make my daughter a tuxedo type shirt with ruffles. A few tops I have bought from Etsy have ruffles too but I think they used a serger to finish the sides of the ruffles. I don't have one. How else can I make the ruffles? Besides folding, ironing and sewing a very narrow stitch across the entire length of the ruffle. Thanks!!

If you are referring to the outside edge of the ruffle, try using the zigzag stitch on your machine. Place the fabric right at the edge, fold just a tiny bit, and zigzag stitch all the way. You don't have to iron... just fold as you go.

Hi, yes I am referring to the raw edge of the fabric. How much would you fold? Like 1/2 a centimeter or something? Thanks!!

Not the actual ruffles, the outer edge (raw edge) of the fabric. But thanks. I would love to get a ruffler foot someday.
