Default Polymer clay and baking?

So Michaels has this sale this week and I went and bought some...watched a few you tube videos and me and DD are going to play w/it over the weekend...

my ? is it harmful if I bake it my household oven? I don't have a special little toaster oven or anything for just the clay? One of the videos I watched said to use an oven just for the clay...I'm a little concerned now...Should I be worried about baking the clay and then baking our food in the same oven will it contaminate it...

This is just a little project for my DD and I so if it's going to be potentially harmful or toxic..I want to take this stuff back before we try anything.

Thanks for any info you have to share or advice to give.

It says non-toxic, but who knows if they are just referring to ingestion or what. From everything I've read, its best to do it in a toaster oven outdoors (or another well-ventilated area)

We are learning about new carcinogens every day.

problem solved then..thank you so much for your response..we will definately not be doing that. I'll have to chk into a little oven just for her to make some stuff if we decide to do so. Thank you I'm so glad to know this. They really need to list some kind of warning on the packages.

I agree... But the clay and the smell not to mention the fumes that hang out in the oven can make everyone sick... You have to watch what you touch when making them. I wash wash wash.. because they say not to touch your face, skin or kids...
