Default New to Hairbows! Need some ideas for headbands to match my appliques.

Okay, I am completely new to hairbows and headbands! I make shirts - see below. I will be adding petti skirts etc to my shop soon. I want to start creating hair accessories to match the shirts.

I would love to have some ideas from you all of what I can make out of the fabric I use on my shirts so that it will match perfectly. I know everyone usually uses ribbon but are there any tutorials or patterns I can pay for that will help me make hair pretties with fabric? I have tons of elastic in all sizes, assuming that there isn't a specific type of elastic to use for headbands

I've added a few of my shirts below so you can get an idea. I would love to make something like the simple headbands with elastic and a big flower made out of fabric, or even a pretty bow. Rosettes would be dynamite!!

Can't wait to hear from you all!

If you search here or just do a google, you will find tons of free tutorials for all kinds of flowers. You can make a tuxedo bow out of fabric like this: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/fabric_bows or a raggie bow with a paid tut from here: http://goosiegirlboutique.com/item_9...e-Download.htm.

Something super simple and totally adorable are frayed flowers. You can search for a tutorial. I can't remember where I found one online, but it was free. Here's an example of the ones I make with fabric.

Those are adorable! Do you cover the buttons with fabric yourself?

I found a few tutorials as well if anyone needs them.

YOU CAN MAKE THIS FRAYED ROSETTE TUT

FLOPPY FABRIC BOW

TUXEDO BOW

Yes, I have a bunch of largish buttons that are ugly, so I just cut a circle out of the fabric that's about twice as large as the button and sew a little running stitch around the edges with the button in the center. Then I pull tight so the edges all pull close around the back of the button and then knot the thread a few times. Then I attach the button with hot glue or E6000.

if you want actual headbands themselves you can do the woven type headbands with strips of fabric instead of using ribbon they come out really nicely!
