Default Kanzashi flower help

I attempted my first kanzashi flower today from Steph's tut. However, I can totally see the threads between the petals. Did I not pull them tight enough before I tied it off? Any advice? TIA

Here's a picture FYI (can't see the threads from the top - only the sides).

I have a hard time with that too. When I pull it tight, it loosens up when I tie it off and then the petals aren't in the right place or they tip up instead of in (if that even makes sense!)..... hopefully you get some good advice

you might need to cut a little bit more off the tips. Or try sewing almost at the end of each petal. I find that if i melt the ends quite a bit i get a more circular form.

I use a dab of hot glue between the petals (after assembling my flower)

I don't even sew mine. I snip off the edges and then burn them. While I'm lighting it with the lighter, I leave it on for a few seconds longer and then press the edges together and that's usually enough to hold them until I glue all the petals together. Then once all the petals are glued together, I put some glue in the middle and a small circle felt piece on the back to ensure it'll handle rough wear. HTH.

It is hard to tell from with the center on..but I would think you just need to pull it a little tighter. I use the dental floss to tie them together because when you make your first knot, the floss will stick a little until you can make your 2nd knot. Also when you string your petals on the floss, make sure they are all butted up against each other before you tie them together. If you have any problems with your next flower..email me pics before you put the center on so I can see what it looks like.

This is how I do mine too. No sewing at all. Fold, snip melt & press. Good luck!

Great ideas, ladies. Thanks. I'll try on my next one. I need to get more 1.5 ribbon colors, first.
