Default Double pinwheels layered or done together?

Don't know if I am making sense but I was wondering if you are using a print ribbon and a plain ribbon behind. Do you do it seperately and sew it together? Or do you layer it and sew them at the same time. So esseintially its one layer. I don't know If I am making sense. I will post both tonight and get opinions of what looks the best. Anyway wanted to hear how others do it. Thanks.

I also make them both separately, then glue them together and tie with thread again for extra strength.

I have done both. I am just trying to decide what I like better. Done together saves time. I will post pics tonight of both.

With pinwheels I do the layers seperately and stack them.
