Default No-slip grip

I have been making some of the cute little elastic ribbon headbands & lining them with velvet ribbon so they would have the no-slip effect….. which has worked great!. Well I have been reading a couple of post on here about some lining there headbands with velcro which makes sense to me, but I also read somewhere about putting the fish tank type silicone for grip (this was on skinny headbands), & I think I even read that someone has used hot glue. My question is how to you apply it in a neat way?

I uses a thin paint brush with fish tank silicone I apply to the item and let dry on wax paper or foil then use on clips etc.
