I always have this thought, honestly when I see bows modeled. I try to put something like "my model is wearing a similar bow", and that is actually the truth. My girls have a TON of bows!

My biggest pet peeve is the pictures of the bows on the carpet and the carpet looks dirty! I see it all the time on fb too!

Maybe for those of you who use the wood floors, it wouldn't be a bad idea to write a little side note and mention it is sitting on a photo prop and not actual old floor.

Unlike on ebay where sellers actually take pictures on dirty carpet or the dinner table!

I have seen that too..or not so clean bedspread, counters or window sills. The area aroung your bows needs to be perfectly clean. Presentation is very important.

You know, that's a very interesting question! I think I might ask them on Monday, when I'm there again for class. I know there are a few who won't share combs/brushes because they're afraid of getting head lice from someone else.

Very true!

You have a few seconds to grab someones attention before they move on and if the first thing that pops into their head is that "eww it's on the floor" you've lost the sale & they have moved on.

I see ladies keep your floors & find new ways of using them in your shots!
This! Exactly. The whole point is not to aim your product at a fellow bowmaker (yes, we do look for approval and acceptance from them) but, in the end, that's *not* who the target market it. It's the mom/grandmom/aunt/sister who is wanting to buy a bow or hair accessory.

I have to say, I personally don't know where the "floor" idea came from.. or why it caught on like wild fire. And while the photos are gorgeous. they don't really make sense to me. It's a spatial relationship thing for me. Bows = head/hair.. high up. Why would they be on the floor/ground?

I can't thank you enough for posting this. It really puts things into perspective that I probably would not have thought about! But I also agree with other people here..... people don't read all of what you post so why would they read a disclaimer! Just a thought.

You're very welcome

And, it's a very honest opinion. When the lady leaned over my shoulder to make her comment, we weren't engaged in a conversation. We were sitting next to each other but not talking.

It was completely unsolicited. Which, to me, makes it more authentic.
