That was not my intent at all, and I'm truly sorry if what I said sound like a pretentious biotch.

I appreciate the intent of Maxine's post...I was just trying to stick up for, in a sense, the etsians that do use the faux floors. I like them, and I know many HG'ers do their photos that way, so I was just trying to say that I like them done that way. I said it badly.

I'm sorry Maxine!!
And I bit your head off. I could have said what I said more gently. I'm sorry. I hope you can forgive me.

HUGE group hug!!

MMI, you didn't hurt my feelings (bless your heart ((((hugs)))) ).

Shelley, you are a sweetheart. All you girls are very dear to me.

My intention on sharing this story came from a good place. Honestly. I don't sell bows so I would really have nothing to gain by trying to influence how bows are photographed.

Me personally? I think the faux floor/wall was ingenious. I myself went to Joann's to look at their paper sheets to see if I could lay my bows on them in order to take a better photo for when I share here.

But when I heard the women commenting, it was like a light bulb went off over my head. Up until then, I wasn't looking at it as a bow on the floor. I was looking at how wonderfully artistic so many of the girls here were.

I thought their comments might be insightful. Honestly, I was only trying to help.

I personally LOVE this information, scientific study or not. I think it's interesting how others are viewing our product. If they think the bow, or other hair accessory, is "gross" regardless of why they think it is, then that's all that really matters to me. This gives us an edge and I'd be surprised if these opinions were isolated to just this group of women.

I wonder what it would look like if someone were to use the fake distressed floor as a "wall" and the fake wall paper as a "floor"; and if you were to take a picture with the bow on the wallpaper/floor.

So you'd have the artsy shabby chic of the distressed floor with the potential of catching more attention if people stop to figure out why something looks a little out of place.

And, the bow wouldn't be sitting on the dirty "floor".

FWIW, I was surprised to see the resistance to Maxine's observations. I realize there are some very talented bow makers that do a great job of showcasing their items; and if they are doing really well there's no sense in fixing something that isn't broken.

But it's kind of like those real estate agent ads: "every market is different". If your sales aren't quite where you want them to be then observations like this would seem to be worth some consideration. Even if your sales are great, there may still be room for some more.

Anywhoo, JMO.

Kel

I am so glad you posted this maxine. i have tossed the idea around of getting some of the mini sized fake floor and walls b/c i to think the pics are so great. would have never crossed my mind that someone would see it and assume it was on a real floor. this is why i love this site. so much info, opinions, advice.
