help with tutu waist
I have a tutu almost ready to put for sale on my site but Im trying to do the ribbon wrapped waist and it doesnt look right to me. Ive looked up how to do it and maybe Im not doing it right. Im not sure but I got mad and took it all apart. I dont know if I should do the ribbon as I make the tutu or wait until its done and wrap it. Im also using 7/8" satin ribbon should it be bigger or smaller? Also I want to add a bow too but I'm worried its going to be floppy. Should it be? or should I be using bigger ribbon for that too? I don't think I did enough research on this I thought I understood how to do it but now I'm just frustrated. -_-

Re: help with tutu waist
I wish I could be of more help. I tried this too and didn't like the result. Then I tried a few with the crochet headband/waist and I love doing it this way now. I am interested to see what others have to say about this and maybe giving it a try again.

I use 1.5 ribbon and tie the a big bow upside down to how you would wear the tutu. I found smaller ribbon left gaps. 1.5 I find even when you stretche it all you see is satin.

1.5 ribbon that is double ruffle like this here
is really great to use on Tutu waist that are hand tied, it covers it up beautifully, HTH

Re: help with tutu waist
I use 7/8" DF satin ribbon to wrap the waistbands and have no problems with the tulle underneath peeking through even when it's stretched out. But then I usually have about 5 knots per inch so maybe that's why :)

I also tie the bow on upside-down, then double-knot it (tight!) so it doesn't come loose. I use 7/8" ribbon for the bow, although I have thought 1.5" ribbon might look better, I just don't have the funds to buy it lol. It doesn't have to look floppy - if you make the loops of the bow shorter, it will be less "floppy".
