I have had the crappiest luck with rolled rosettes.. Does anyone have a favorite tutorial. I think if I could just get one to come out (kind of like the boutique bow), then I would be on my way.. Thanks

Thank you, ladies!! And, I love the idea about using old shirts from resale shops. I will have to go hunting...lol.

Yeah, I am with you. I just kind of twist the ribbon and roll it around. I make them onto a felt circle with little dabs of glue. If I try to hold it and do it, I can't seem to get it right. There was a tut about doing it with the felt that I looked at before I made mine, but I am on a new computer and don't have the info for it - it was posted on here.

for rolled I prefer fabric, especially satin and silk.

There are so many neat fabric remnants in the bins at Walmart/JoAnn's. I especially love the home dec fabric since it tends to be very sturdy and you can get neat denims, corduroys, dupioni silks, and homespun-looking cottons.

I just recently started making the rolled rosettes and I love the satin the best especially if you are doing the unfinished look because it frays so nicely. I love the frayed look because it looks vintage or old to me, but I know some people dont like that look. Lol. I did some this weekend out of solid cotton material, but also did one using a sheer ribbon that turned out beautiful. It used alot more ribbon for that one because of it being so thin, but turned out gorgeous.

I've been experimenting but I cut up my old prom dress (red brocade- think early 90's style) and some old bridesmaid dresses that had stains on them. I really like the different textures and keeps the dresses out of the dump....plus the fabric is free (well paid for many years ago!)

I like using fabric strips (preferably vintage, floral patterns). I've been using the sisbloom tutorial, but it's kind of time-consuming. For some reason, I just like how they turn out, but it seems like there are tons of less labor-intensive tuts.

Fabric.com has it for like $17 per yard... not much less, but every bit counts right? and they have free shipping over $35...
