Default Help me please! ? About Spikes!

Hi everyone! I am new here I have a 7 month old daughter named Ashley and absolutely LOVE making her bows!!! I've gotten pretty good at the boutique bow, but here is my problem. I cannot, for the LIFE of me, figure out how to make the ribbon spikes for a layered boutique bow!! I know how to cut them, but can't figure out how to tie them/glue them/sew them! When I do it they are too big in the center. Please someone help me! I will be ETERNALLY grateful!! Thank you in advance!

Thank you so much!! I have one more question On hairhardware.com there is a tutorial on making stacked boutique bows, and she is using "6 " tall spikes" They look fairly simple to do, but I cannot make my spikes look like those. Do you know where I could find how to make the ones on there?? Again, thank you soooo much for your help!!

spikes for me was the worst and i mean THE WORST thing EVER to figure out, I found a lot of helpful tips here, and one that worked the BEST for me was to cut all my spikes out, generally my spikes tend to be 5-6 inches long Lay the spikes out the way you want them, (like fan them out the way you would want them in your bow) and then take a wood burner and push it through the middle, that will make all of the spikes stay together, and then sew them from there ive attached some pics of my bows with spikes done that way! (I use A LOT of ribbon in my spikes ) hth!!

You can use hair clips (long ones from sally's) to hold everything together while you stitch them....or layer one at a time until you build it to your liking

You would lay them out in a fan shape then sew them.

Usually don't do as many spikes as I'm seeing the other members post but I typically fold all mine in half so I know they're centered and than stitch them but push them flat so there's not a huge lump in the middle...hope that made sense and helps...it took me awhile to get the hang of it too though!
