Cute, cute flip flops. I love making them and they sell well for me in the summer also. In the past I have wrapped my ribbon, but this year I want to start gluing the ribbon to the top of the straps only as I like that look much better (I don't like the gaps I sometimes get when wrapping and it is time consuming ).
I see you are in MA...where are you? I am in Western MA.

I do not use cheap flip flops...Old Navy and am now going to use Inbop for my boutique stores.

I only glue ribbon on top of the straps with e600 and then use alligator clips to secure overnight. I then hot glue the bow and then take dental floss and wrap around the straps twice. Then I take ribbon and wrap it around the straps covering the floss.

I have never had one pair of flip flops come back with problems.

Hi Diane,

I like the look of ribbon on the strap and it doesn't take as long as wrapping the whole strap.

I live in Abington on the south shore.

Have you tried gluing the ribbon to the tops of the straps yet?

Not yet...I've only wrapped...but I like the look of the ribbon being glued to the top better if it will hold. I'll have see what happens...I have a few pair of flip flops left from last year...and this year I think I'll only be using Old Navy Flip Flops.

Well, I'm using Old Navy and haven't had much success at all I'm going to try the flip flop glue pr talked about and if that doesn't work, then I'm done trying to wrap the straps.

These are ON ones - or wait, maybe these are Target. Ok, once I went & got the pic I can see they are Target. Their backstrap is a little different than ON ones. I have some ON ones that I'm gonna try soon. I plan to just wrap the front part - not around by the heel. But not entirely sure on the logistics yet!!

Those turned out cute!

The problem I'm having is that I'm *not* wrapping.. I'm only trying to glue ribbon to the top part of the strap (and it's not holding). I'm going to use the flip flop glue today and see if that works. If it doesn't, then I might try wrapping but with something wider than 3/8".

I love the korkers on flip flops too.. I need to try those.. Also I got a good deal on some flops this weekend at JCpennys... They have 2 pair in a set and thye are originally 9.99... they were on sell for 5.99... so I each pair for 2.50 each!! AND they don't have a name brand on them and they're super cute!!

Anyone know how to make this?? Would I just tie my fabric around the plastic on the flops OR is the fabric sewn together then glued on the flops?

Someone once told me they use zipties to secure bows on the flip flops.. Wonder if you can use the tiny zip ties for korkers too?

What a great sale! Good for you!

I've made lots of those types of flip flops Keri. All you do is tie your fabric strips to the shoe straps. I use a dab of glue to keep the knot secure. They're very easy to make and go together in a flash!
