also as my ribbon runs out i cut a small piece of it and put it in a separate baggie so when i need to buy it i know exactly what width and color i need to get!
Those are both great ideas! I love the scrap pieces as a reminder of what to buy! We do this with color boxes at work, when we use a tube of color, we tear off the tab on the box that has the color name wrote on it so we can order more. Never thought of doing that for ribbon!

Great Idea on this thread. I have a couple of ideas... but most are borrowed but maybe they will help someone

I use a shoe rack (the kind with teh see through pockets) to hold all my odds and ends ... small rolls of ribbon, centers and other random crap -- easy to find stuff

I also use an old yardsale mirror to cut my ribbon on, I have lines written on them for sizes i cut all the time as well as ruler taped on, made my life SO much easier.

I have my wood burner and glue gun on a power strip so i can just flip the button each time and not worry about having to plug and unplug each time.

I saw the tip of putting your glue gun tip in Vaseline to reduce glue strings. It seemed to reduce them by a little bit. I had baby fresh scent Vaseline and it smelled SOO good. :-)

May have to try that. :-) I went to find the pot holder today and couldn't find it. :-(

I just love the smell of the vaseline.

And when you do get those glue strings, use a hair dryer on high and they will disappear

I actually bought a silicone mat by the glue guns (made specifically as a glue gun rest) at my local craft store. I think it was made by the same company as my glue gun, but I can't remember. LOVE this thing. Its great for making marabou puffs on!!!! Squirt a blob of glue on the mat and shove the 2 ends of the marabou boa in it! Peels right off!

I use to do this too my tip actually involves this since i ws so afraid of it shattering...one of my most time saving finds was to purchase a rotary cutting mat with one of my 50% off coupons from Michaels and then in walmart kitchen section i found one of the large shatterproof glass cutting boards with non stick feet (it was around $12) that i placed over the mat and use for gluing and cutting so i can easily see and make all my measurements

Love the tips!! It is great to have them all in one thread.

Adding these....

Directly above my desk, I have a bow (or photo) board hanging on the wall. When I finish a bow, I just clip it on the board so it won't get lost or damaged.

To cut ribbon with the woodburner, get a metal ruler. They have 18 in ones at Staples for about $8ish. I have allie clips attached to mine all along the top so I can use them to hold the ribbon still at each place I will be cutting.
