Yep I don't get the tie another layer in between either. Would pay someone for a tut if they have pics of this. I want to do a triple layer tutu but can't find a tut.
I use the square knor method and just squish as I go but apparently there's a better way to do it.

I finally figured it out and this is how you do it. I always did a 3 color tutu (lets say red, white, and black) and I would tie all the black on, then I would go through and tie the white on in between each black one so that it sat on top of the black ones. Then I went through and tied in my red ones on every 3rd space (so it went black, white, red on the top) Then I had my 3 layer tutu with red on top, then white, then black on the bottom.

So you have a picture of one you have done with the 3 layer? I think I understand it now. But I just wanna see a pic so I know if it is what I am trying to end up with. Thanks so much!!

the first tutu is a sewn one, so that might be why its so fluffy and full

This is what I don't get..

So lets say I'm making a tutu:

------------

(that's my elastic)

X and O are my two colors of tulle that I am square knotting onto my tutu in an alternating pattern:

X-O-X-O-X-O (knots)

Now, for the second layer, when you say you put another layer between the first layer of knots, if my new knots are "a" and "b" would it be:

XaObXaOb

or something like:
X-O-X-O-X-O
a b a b a

(where its "a" under X ("a" is tied to the bottom of the X knot))
and if this just makes everything worse, sorry!
I like the way you think! This post has been driving me nuts. Do we have a final answer to this question? The "put another layer between knots" has me so confused.

You could use a crochet headband, and tie 3 or 4 knots in each hole of the head band. The headbands come in all sorts of widths, so you could choose one that would make it fuller.

Hope I helped.
