Default Help with Multi-Coloured Tutu

So, I've made a tutu with two colours. I would just alternate colours, red, white, red, white, red, white etc.

A client is asking me to make a tutu like the one pictured, it has 4 colours. I normally put 5 strips per inch and I find that it is fluffy.

Can anyone look at this tutu and tell me how it is made? Do they double layer the tulle or do they rotate colours? How many strips/inch do you think it is?

I would probably go for an 8 inch tutu to make it stand out like this one... or is it all camera tricks to make it seem super fluffy? I would probably end up putting mine on an elastic band where as this one is on a ribbon.

Thanks for the help ladies.

Depends also on quality of tulle..

I am currently doing one for a charity. I am alternating the colors and double layering it. White on top of white, pink on top of pink, purple on top of purple etc. OR you can triple layer it to give it alot of poof. The more layers the more poof.

Does that double/triple the amount of tulle you need if you double/triple layer it?

Yes, On each new layer take off about 2" of length it make it poof more. Example, the first one is 26", the next one on top of that would be 24" long etc.

So do you just lay one on top of the other and then knot over elastic or are they separate layers. How do you put one on top of other without being bulky?

Here is a link to one of mine that is very similar....

http://tutufrilly.com/item_21/Jelly-Bean-Tutu.htm

this is made on elastic and you just make like you would any other tutu, just alternate the colors. So I do one layer only, but I rotate one strip of pink, then yellow, then blue, etc. The colors will look blended when done.
