Default Sewing Firecracker Bows

Okay, so I used the free tut that was posted the other day to try the firecracker bows.

The first one turned out great! Minus the fact that it was a little flatter on one side because I sewed a little too far away from the middle and it made it a little flat. But other than that it was awesome.

The next one that I tried I couldn't sew back through the middle. Its so thick! Any ideas on a way to sew through that won't break my needle but not make it flat? Tips or tricks anyone? THANKS!!!

I crease each strip then run my needle and thread through them.

Where can I find one? I know HL has a section of leather tools and stuff. Would it be found there??

I crease them as I put them on the needle as well, but I sew back through it for durability.

I'll be watching this thread. I've broken so many needles in the past!

I've heard of people using pliers to grasp the needle and pull it out. Maybe if you can get a longer/stronger leather working needle as suggested you can pull it through far enough to grasp with pliers and pull it through?
