Default Is this an over the top bow?

I was trying to find a bottle cap to put in the center of Shyanns birthday bow with a cupcake on it and I came across this lady's website and decided I would love to have a bow like this for her birthday bow but Ive never tried them like this before.

I have this right it looks like a pinwheel over top of a twisted and spikes right? I just want to make sure I have it right before I attempt it. And am I right thinking this is what is referred to as an over the top bow?

I don't know what others call that kind, but I call it a Stacked Bow or Layered bow.

Yep, I agree. That's just a stacked bow. She used 1.5 inch wide ribbon for the top bow and 7/8 ribbon for the rest. It's cute!

ok lol, I got some cute 1.5 inch ribbon today for the bow for Shyanns birthday bow and I have already made boutique bows in colors that match so I may give this one a shot, but now I have to research what exactly the over the top bows are lol because Im curious now.

So I googled the "over the top bow" and I definitely like the stacked better, lol I guess they call them over the top because they are just so full of ribbon, my daughter has thin hair and It will be hard enough getting the stacked bow to stay in her hair. Thanks for the help!

My DD2 has very thin hair. The only way I can get a barrette or french clip to stay in her hair is to put it in a pony tail and anchor it to the pony tail holder.

I haven't tried this with something as heavy as an over the top (OTT) bow yet though.

Yep, I'd call it stacked and layered too.

Its funny you say this because I made my bow (its in the sharing gallery if you want to see) but I havent put it on a clip yet because I wasnt sure which would be the best one to use. Ive never tried a french barrette yet in her hair but I have some so I was going to ask on here which would be best to use, that or an allagator clip. Now I think Im going to try the french barrette and do it the way you described. I think her hair is finally long enough to put in a single pony tail. Thank you for this idea.
