Default What Kind and how to?

Does any one know what kind of bow this is called and how to make it. I thought it was just a figure 8 bow but I cant seem to get mine to look like that... Pheww...

The center bow is the one I am questioning. And how in the brown and pink one it has a " Tail"?

These are not my bows. I did not make them. I am simply admiring them and trying to get my bows to turn out prettier. Thank you for all your help!

The pink and the brown are two separate things...the pink is called a twisted boutique bow and it's pretty challenging, and the brown is a set of surround loops...there are lots of great tips on making these on the forum if you use the search tool at the top

Hi Nacole,

Just a quick note to let you know that you can provide links to pics that aren't yours, but not the pic itself. I am guessing it is so the owner of the pic can be credited for making the bow.

The brown and pink tails are spikes and are not part of the bow. Some people sell them, and they are made by folding the edge, cutting it at an angle, and singing it.

The center bow is a twisted bow, I believe. It is kind of difficult to explain in words how to make it. I'd suggest Googling it.

By the way, this HipGirl is selling them already made/partially made for a decent price per bow:

I cant seem to get my twisted to well do the twisted part. My loops never seem to come out even or looking the same. Here's what mine seem to turn out like...

I would definately suggest you learn the fold using grosgrain ribbon. It will help to hold its shape better. Just keep practicing!

There are tons of instructions on here that will help you out. And I agree with the PP....grosgrain is the best ribbon to work with while learning.

I agree- that is one of the harder bows to master and it is definitely easier with stiffer ribbon- and just keep practicing... I had to watch a million videos to get them to somewhat look good, and i only make them now by special request or for my dd because honestly- I cannot do them quick enough to make it worth my while... I mainly make other bows that I am better at and quicker at...when all else fails, you can always purchase a template to help you (although some still find it difficult with the templates)
