Starch just helps the bow keep it's shape. I don't know how others do it but mine have their shape when I sew them.

Marcie, I'm going to have to try this. The gg ribbon I'm using for this bow seems so flimsy

I starch mine and use a blowdryer. It takes just a few minutes and they are stiff. I have tried baking, but they still seem flimsy so I like the blowdryer. My bows are crisp when I am done!! And, I move them all around to get them to where I want them before and during starching. Don't be afraid to move those loops around!!

I just starch/uses Stiffen Quik my twisteds. I only bake the korkers. The spray works well and I don't have to worry about weird polyester-plastic fumes in the house. I really don't know the cumulative effect of all of this ribbon cooking/burning! That's part of the reason I don't bake (except korkers).

I starch and bake all of my bows...I feel like it helps them hold their shape even after many wearings by my girls. After I shape my bow, I spray it with Sta Flo diluted with just a little water, then place it on the tray, reshape it just a bit, and bake it at 275 for 20-25 minutes, depending on how flimsy the ribbon feels before the baking. I have found that the higher quality ribbon really makes a difference in how my twisteds turned out. I could never get them with HL ribbon, but I can make them no problem with my ribbon from Hairbow Center and HipGirl. Maybe I just wasn't good enough yet with the HL ribbon, I don't know! HTH

This is going to sound really sad, but please keep in mind I've been doing this for about a month.

what is the difference between a twisted boutique bow and a boutique bow?! I've looked at pictures side by side and I can't see the difference! I would love if someone could explain.

Ok, so the reason I didn't see the difference is because I was getting confused. Some people call a twisted boutique bow just a boutique bow. I guess a boutique bow is called a classic or basic bow.
