Default Surrounding Loop ?

I have recently began playing with surrounding loops, but have a question....

is a base bow always required? Or can I attach surrounding loops to a single boutique bow (and if so, do you attach the clip directly to the back of the surrounding loops)?

TIA for the help/opinions!!

Heather

i dont think its required i think its all based on personal preference
i would say that they would need to be starched and baked to hold thier correct shape though or they will probably look floopy! JMO
I would also say to glue the surround a loop well to the bow instead of just sewing the pieces together to make a more secure hold..... and then attach your center... then attached your lined clip to the bow?
good luck

I think its personal preference however I find it keeps the surrounding loops in place better with a base bow

For one of my Christmas shows I made up some new bows withOUT the large base, my area the big boutique stacked bows are not big sellers. So I downsized and did 3.5" spikes, then the surrounds 3", and a 2.5" twiested boutique bow for the topper. The actually sold really well. I always starch each layer before assembling though so my surrounds are stiff and hold their shape.

I think you could even get away with only the surround and the topper bow depending on what look you are wanting to achieve.

You don't have to put a base bow but you would probably want at least spikes to give the surround a foundation. I'd be afraid that they would be to floppy if there was nothing underneath them
