Default For those of you who make your own wings

I have yet to make my own wings- I am still researching tutorials - I know once I start making them it will be trial and error - but I was wondering how you ladies do the straps? And how you make the straps? I've seen some with ribbon, some with what looks like ribbon with elastic sewn in it, and ans some with elastic. Just curious Whats the easiest/cheapest route to go I don't want to sacrifice the quality though just because one way is easier. Thanks ladies for your help.

I've only made bumblebee wings and just used black thin (1/2" I believe) elastic. I personally don't like the ones with just ribbon because it doesn't stay around the shoulders like the elastic does at least when I tried it didn't. HTH!

I used ribbon and then had a coordinating ribbon that I used to tie the two shoulder straps together in front of my daughters chest, under her costume. they didn't budge all night.

I use 1/8" elastic because it stretches the most and is the most comfortable i have found with kids. Bigger elastic cuts in and hurts most kids. I will sew a 5/8th ribbon in have and thread the elastic through to give a nicer finish but you have to make sure you cut the ribbon to match the length of the elastic when it is stretched out.
